Hello Reader,

Well, it's June, and the world is awash in rainbows, once again. Not only can you spot Roy G. Biv in summer festivals, business logos, and social media posts, but the same vibant colors are on grand display in red geraniums, orange marigolds, yellow day lilies, green grass, blue skies, and purple petunias and many, many more of God's beautiful creations.

However, June is also the month our family celebrates the birth of our eighth child and only rainbow baby. God gave us Rachel over 23 years ago, right after I miscarried our precious little son, Joshua Adam, at 17 weeks.

So while the world is waving colorful flags in celebration of something else, those rainbows serve as a reminder to me of the great faithfulness and mercy of God. I hope this week's link list will do the same for you!

Free resources for you this week:

What I'm reading this week:

In their book, You Are a Theologian, authors Jen Wilkin and J.T. English argue that everyone is a theologian because everyone (even atheists and agnostics) has opinions and beliefs about God.

The aim of this book is to ensure those opinions and beliefs are firmly grounded in Scripture.

The book covers such topics as the Trinity, the attributes of God, humanity, Scripture, sin, atonement, justification, the church, and end times.

It is a good introduction to the study of God for those who are interested in delving into the topic for the first time or brushing up on doctrines they've ponderend in the past.

This week's reader request:

I published my fifth coloring page based on the Roman Road this week, which I drew at the request of a reader who was teaching a Bible class to children on those verses. The sixth and final coloring page in this series will drop on Sunday.

I also corrected the broken links on my original Roman Road post so you can now download all five languages (not just Spanish).

On the podcast this week:

Loving Life at Home: Episode 49

On Miscarriage - Help for Hurting Hearts

In response to listeners who've asked, I'm sharing my thoughts and experience with miscarriage in hopes of encouraging others who've suffered the same kind of loss.

Listen in as we discuss topics ranging from recovering from a miscarriage to rainbow babies to how one should respond to insensitive remarks or hurtful comments.

Progress on last week's goals:

Well, I ❌ didn't do any watercolor, but I ✅ did accomplish the remaining 80% of my goals last week, including ✅ hiking down to some gorgeous waterfalls, ✅ making it home safely from North Carolina, ✅ attending our friend's wedding, and ✅ laying up eight new bottles of Winkie's tonic for winter.

Personal goals for this week:

  • do a couple of wood burning projects
  • polish/refinish garden statues
  • add terra cotta ollas to outdoor plants
  • organize cabinets in laundry room
  • photograph book-binding process
