Hello Reader,

Well, we made it home safely from our 2-week road trip and immediately set our nose back to the grindstone. While my husband is working 12-hour night shifts at the hospital all week long, the kids and I are doubling and tripling up on math lessons to make up for lost time.

Our move in spring set us back a bit, but we're all determined to begin the new school year with a clean slate. Which means we've got to work fast, since co-op classes start in a week and a half.

Can you believe the summer flew by so fast? School's already in session for several of the towns we visited up north. I guess that means this back-to-school link list may be early for some readers and late for others. Either way, I hope you'll find something here you like

Free resources for you this week:

What we're watching this week:

My daughter Bethany recommended The 15:17 to Paris, so we all watched it as a family on Sunday night. It tells the true story of a terror attack on a European train that was thwarted by three brave, young Americans.

My favorite part of the movie? Director Clint Eastwood had the heroes play themselves in the film. In a culture that is working overtime to emasculate our boys, it was refreshing to see these three young men acting in such a manly way to protect those around them, even when it meant putting themselves in harm's way to do it.

[Content warning: This movie contained a little mild language and a little bit of blood. We also preemptively fast-forwarded through one scene in an Amsterdam nightclub, just to play it safe.]

What we're eating this week:

We stopped at Efurd Orchards on our way home from the east coast to buy a little homemade ice cream and a big box of peaches. The peaches were so sweet and juicy, they didn't last us very long at all. We polished them all off within 2-3 days, so now my kids are begging me to drive back and get more while they're still in season. And I'm thinking I might just do it tomorrow.

Progress on last week's goals:

We ✅ made it home safely and I ✅ finished my lesson plans for co-op, But reducing my inbox to 10 emails? Hahahahaha! No, that didn't happen (although ✅ I did cut it down by over 75%).

My goals for next week:

  • print my kids' assignment charts for the first 6 weeks of homeschool
  • make 10+ freezer meals to help on hectic days once co-op and volleyball start up
  • write another Timberdoodle review
  • attend a swing dance this weekend with a live band
  • celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary
  • celebrate my son Daniel's 17th birthday

Another poll for you:
