Hello Reader,

Did you know April 19 is National Refresh Your Goals Day? Who's up for re-examining what we're doing and why?

School is winding down and summer break is right around the corner. Hopefully, that will free up time for working on neglected goals or projects we haven't had the margin to pursue earlier.

So that's the theme of this week's link list. I hope these resources will help you refresh and clarify any of your own goals that have fallen by the wayside or inspire you to pursue some new changes!

Free resources for you this week:

What I'm reading this week:

I've been reading C.S. Lewis On Writing this week and have found it absolutely delightful. It is filled with sound advice and sage tips in easily digestible tidbits, as the entire book is comprised of selected portions on the topic from his voluminous personal correspondence.

The most impressive part of the book lies not in the very excellent and practical guidelines provided, but in the fact that the entire content of the book was gleaned from the countless, thoughtfully-crafted letters Lewis sent to friends and colleagues over the years.

Oh, that modern man would weigh his thoughts so carefully and express them so articulately -- in private as well as in public!

What we're eating this week:

I baked a big batch of blueberry oat muffins while the kids and grandkids were in town. They polished off four dozen of them in a matter of minutes, along with a gallon of milk and a large fruit salad. That may be because they were all famished, but I because the muffins are so irresistibly delicious!

On the podcast this week:

Loving Life at Home: Episode 40

THE ART OF SETTING WORTHWHILE GOALS

Goals are important because they provide a sense of purpose and direction.

Even when you aren’t 100% sure what the LORD would have you do with your time, I recommend prayerfully setting a worthwhile goal and working toward it.

As long as you hold your plans lightly, you can trust God to redirect you if that is what needs to happen.

This week's reader request:

After receiving requests from multiple moms of boys, I've finally published A Prayer for Sons. I've published similar guides in the past for praying over mothers, fathers, and daughters. So now the series is complete.

This prayer touches on several of the areas I’m most concerned about for my own sons. I hope you will find it helpful in interceding for yours, as well.

Also, remember: If you've been looking for a particular printable resource without success, hit reply and tell me about what you have in mind. If I can help create one for you, I will.

Progress on last week's goals:

I didn't finish everything on last week's to-do list, but did make decent progress: I βœ… finished one crochet project, βœ… started a new one, βœ… let out the hem on my son's dress pants, and βœ… updated my prayer journal.

I also βœ… pre-recorded one podcast and, even though I ❌ didn't tape the remaining three, I βœ… did get them outlined with an eye to recording them later this morning while my kids are helping an older brother clear some brush.

Personal goals for this week:

  • make 2 more capitol passports
  • attend a victory rally for a local judge
  • celebrate my baby's 14th birthday
  • create syllabus for next fall's co-op classes

A question for you:

In addition to my algebra classes, I'm slated to teach a course in leather working and wood burning at co-op next year. The one leather/wood class offered filled up fast, so I volunteered to teach a second section for all the students on the waiting list (including my own daughter).

I have some experience with big wood & leather projects like building/ reupholstering furniture, but I need ideas for smaller projects that could be finished in 1-2 hours. Got any? If so, do me a favor, hit reply, and send me a description or link, okay? I'd be eternally grateful!
