Hello Reader,

Call me a wimp, but I've spent the past two days holed up in our house under a stack of quilts trying to stay warm while our kids were out with friends trying their best to sled in the scant 2Β½-inches of snow we got on Monday.

Classes were canceled, businesses were closed, and special events were postponed, since hardly anyone in Texas feels completely comfortable driving on icy roads.

Yes, I know that many of my readers have to deal with much colder temperatures, much higher snowdrifts, and much longer winters. And they are undoubtedly more adept at dealing with the ice and cold than I am.

But whether you get flakes by the truckload every winter or by the half-inch once in a blue moon, this snow-themed link list is for you. Hope it will warm your heart, even if it does nothing for your freezing feet! πŸ₯Ά

Free resources for you this week:

What I'm reading this week:

Another Gospel examines the claims of progressive Christianity and explains why the progressive β€œgospel” is no gospel at all. In the foreword, Lee Strobel urges readers to share favorite quotes on social media from this must-read book, so here's one of my favorites:

β€œIn years past, it was assumed that if you called yourself a Christian, you believed in biblical authority. But now as progressive Christianity infiltrates and infects the true church, we all must decide: How much authority does this book hold in our lives? To inform our view of the Bible, we can choose to follow the whims of a godless culture or we can choose to follow Jesus.

"I choose Jesus.”

What we're eating this week:

My favorite meal this week has been the harissa-roasted chickpea bowls I made for lunch yesterday using one of my EveryPlate meal kits. You can take a look at that recipe here, but if you'd like to try EveryPlate yourself, use my referral code to get your first box free.

On the podcast this week:

Loving Life at Home: Episode 27

GOD WANTS THE WHOLE PIE

Whenever we're told to put God first, then by definition, something else comes next. It implies that once God’s been given His fair share, the rest of my resources are mine to do with as I please.

But this whole way of thinking is fundamentally flawed. God should be more than just the top item on our to-do list.

Progress on last week's goals:

I finished almost everything I set out to do last week: I βœ… put away our Christmas decor, βœ… sent fall semester grades to my algebra students, βœ… met my friend for breakfast, βœ… taught Abby and her friends a new craft, and βœ… registered my son for dual credit classes (but not my grandson, as the class he needed was full).

Personal goals for this week:

  • spend time with my married kids' families this weekend
  • listen to grandkids quote their verses for January's Bible memory challenge
  • clean out two boxes in my garage
  • publish a brand new prayer guide (by special request from a reader)

That's it for another week. Tell me, did you get snow, too? How much?
