Hello Reader,

Here's a question for you: If March winds bring April showers, and April showers bring May flowers, then what do May flowers bring?

The answer? June bugs! (... or Pilgrims, depending on who's posing the riddle). Either way, June is here. School is out. And we've got plenty of reasons to celebrate.

You may notice that Father's Day is missing from the link list below. But don't worry. I'll be dedicating an entire newsletter to that topic in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile, here are a few fun resources for several lesser-known, somewhat quirkier holidays. Enjoy!

Free resources for you this week:

What I'm reading this week:

I'm almost finished with Allie Beth Stuckey's You're Not Enough (and That's Okay). The book echoes a blog post I wrote several years back, but obviously goes into much greater detail, exposing why modern affirmations touting self-sufficiency, self-love, self-determination, and self-actualization drastically miss the mark.

I've enjoyed reading this fresh perspective from a writer who freely admits to having bought into myths like "You are enough" when she was younger, but who eventually came to realize just how false and how hollow such platitudes actually are.

What we're eating this week:

I've prepared a couple of freezer meals since our return home, but I've already placed a grocery pickup order which includes lots of fresh produce for some delectable summer salad recipes I plan to try this week, including this scrumptious-looking BLT potato salad from @brunchwithbabs.

Progress on last week's goals:

I marked just about everything off my (intentionally light) to-do list last week, including βœ… adding lots of vacation pics to Instagram, βœ… completing our 11-state roadtrip, βœ… cleaning out the fridge (now working on the pantry), and βœ… catching up on mail/email (though I've still got a ways to go).

My personal goals for this week:

  • send congratulatory cards to recent grads
  • memorize/ review Romans 6
  • paint flowers under birdhouses on my backyard mural
  • keep a details food diary for a week
  • exercise 5 times over the next 7 days

Those last two items signify my effort to get back in line with my goals for the year. What's on your agenda this week? Any new year's resolutions you intend to revisit? Any special summer plans or projects? Hit reply and let me know!
